The heart wants what it wants. Even if what it wants is pale, robotic and emotionless.

I once knew a girl in college who was 25 years old and in love with Daniel Radcliffe in Harry Potter. Her other major fictional character crush (actually from girlhood) was Data from Star Trek: The Next Generation. I understand that one. I mean, he WAS really smart. Plus, he always had such control about him--always so cool and collected. I guess that had something to do with him being a robot, but still. So, I think it would be fun for everyone to reveal his or her inappropriate or embarrassing celebrity/fictional character crush. See the Inappropriate Crushes Anonymous livejournal for inspiration.

Soooo, anyone have a thing for Sheriff ANDY TAYLOR? Uh, I know--HOT! He was always so good with Opie and Aunt Bea--what a man! PLUS, he wears a uniform all the time! HELLO, people! *nudge nudge* You feel me? Yeah? ...Whatever. You should probably know that lying a lot raises your blood pressure.

Good news!

Good news for all you boyfriends and husbands who have been forced to watch the recently released DVD of the awesome Chick Flick to End All Chick Flicks, Mamma Mia!: I have been informed by my brothers that since Pierce Brosnan is practically the definition of Bond/Thomas Crown manliness, his very presence in this movie makes it manly. So, Y-Chromosomes, you can watch and enjoy without self-conciousness or embarrassment! Huzzah!

Did someone say 'pic spam'?

Okay, actually, that was me. We here at Lucky Ball Charms generally don't post picspams because we're KIND OF lazy about picture collecting too sophisticated for all that, but that sure doesn't stop us from posting links to that kind of thing. So here is a link to a post at an amazing livejournal called The Obscure Brit Actors Squee Consortium where you can enjoy a picspam featuring Stephen Campbell Moore of Bright Young Things and The History Boys. And I'm using that Bright Young Things pic mostly because I just REALLY WISH I could wear some kind of FABULOUS between-the-wars head gear like Emily Mortimer is wearing in it. I mean, I would wear it around the house, to the grocery store, to WORK--it would be amazing.

Oh HEY EVERYONE. Today, we're going to apprise you of more hot people on tv. Well, one more anyway. To watch sex-ay Rufus Sewell as brilliant biophysicist Dr. Jacob Hood (genius is SO HOT, people), you'll have to tune in to CBS on Thursdays at 10 and watch Eleventh Hour.

Sadly, we have to say that the actual show is not so amazing. We feel that there is a glaring lack of chemistry between the two main characters, probably due to the awkward, sex kitten-y way his costar is playing her FBI agent character. Also, the episodes are way too preachy for my taste. Still, who even cares about that when you can watch Rufus Sewell? You could always just put your tv on mute and TAKE IN THE VIEW. Oh yeah.

We here at Lucky Ball Charms take great joy in apprising our readers of hot people on tv. We also feel that there is a tragic shortage of sexy, red-headed men on both the small and silver screens. If you feel the same way, be sure and watch drool-worthy Damian Lewis as Detective Charlie Crews in the crime show Life on NBC, Fridays at 10pm. OR you could just watch full episodes whenever you want online (at NBC or Hulu). That too.

Rejected Suitor of the Week: Henry Cavill

So, dear readers, I think it all went rather well, considering. It's always hard when E and I have to turn down yet another sweet, handsome swain who had, no doubt, been attending our salon in hopes of snaring one of us for himself, having no choice but to act upon his intense primal desires for our Awesome. This week's lovelorn lad is the exquisite Henry Cavill. I know, ladies and gentlemen, I know. Meow. You may be thinking that E and I must be completely mad to turn down someone as superhumanly beautiful as Henry Cavill, but it's only because, as we all know, E and I are ALSO superhumanly beautiful. So you see how it could never work. I mean, our babies would obviously be, like, too beautiful to live. They'd be OSTRACIZED like in that episode of The Twilight Zone where a beautiful woman has been deemed a FREAK because she doesn't have a pig nose like everyone else. Think of the children, readers--think of the children! As a parting gift, I shall post an intimate candid of E and I lounging around with the lovely HC before we so cooly rejected him:

So, your leg looks HAWT there, E. I mean, so do my boobs, but I'm just saying...

Serious Questions for Hugh Laurie

I know, I know, E. I'm the one who is all OMG HUGH LAURIE, and not you so much, so I'll just go ahead and tell whatever major print media outlet that calls for first dibs on what is sure to be the most AMAZING interview EVER (besides our James McAvoy triumph) that this time, it will just be me all alone in a room with Hugh Laurie. You don't even have to take time off work, E, so you can totally relax about all that. I know that you trust me to take this on, and it's exactly the kind of responsibility that I am willing to shoulder for us as a partnership. I also know that you and perhaps some of the readers of this blog may be thinking to yourselves...

...Oh, SORRY. HAHAHAHA. I bet you all think I was having a momentary reverie involving that first picture there just then, but you're WRONG. ANYWAY, as I was SAYING, I know some of you may be thinking to yourselves, But Emmy, how will you, as KIND OF a drooling fangirl, possibly be able to keep it together enough to ask HUGH LAURIE ten whole questions without bursting into tears or passing out or basically making a complete fool of yourself?? And to that, dear readers, I say--HAVE FAITH in the fact that once or twice I thought about majoring in journalism in college, even though my ultimate choice of Latin and Italian was CLEARLY the wiser and more lucrative one. Have FAITH that I am a serious individual who can ask the questions that need to be asked. Have FAITH that I have the fortitude to pull this off without E beside me to steady my nerves. Alright, people, ON to my questions...

**hits PLAY on CD player next to chair and Unchained Melody fills the interview room**

(Uh, the MUSIC is for putting us both AT EASE. Excuse me for trying to be courteous. GEEZ, people.)

1. Am I a million times prettier than Jennifer Morrison, Lisa Edelstein AND Olivia Wilde put together? If the answer is yes, and I think we all know IT IS, would you sign this petition I have drawn up to replace all of these actresses with ME in my unprecedented triple-role television acting debut on House, MD?

2. OKAY, then. Well...I bet Jennifer Morrison, Lisa Edelstein and Olivia Wilde don't know CRAP about LATIN.

3. Would it be possible for me to schedule a House-themed romantic tryst with you, Jesse Spencer and Robert Sean Leonard in the near future? ...Uh, it's called ACTING for a REASON.

4. So, I would really like it if you could show a little more PROFESSIONALISM toward my questions.

5. Would you like to put your head in my lap?

6. Could I put my head in YOUR lap?

7. If I said I were getting a horrible migraine RIGHT THIS SECOND, would you turn the lights down and hold me gently until I felt better?

8. What would you say is the major difference in the color blue of your eyes as compared to say, James McAvoy, and what effect do you think it has on your overall dreaminess?

9. How do you feel about this sterling silver keepsake locket with my picture inside which I lovingly designed and ordered for you off of Snapfish.com?

10. Before you go, would it be possible for you to put your new locket on, look deep into my eyes and come up with some devastatingly dry witticism about how much other women wish they could be as irresistibly attractive as I am?

Oh, I KNOW, E. I know. Don't be jealous about how fantastic this interview is going to be. Too bad you won't be there to experience it firsthand, but you know, you not being as OMG HUGH LAURIE as I am might actually cheapen the whole experience, so maybe it's ultimately a good thing. I mean, if you wanted to singlehandedly interview someone you thought was totally hot greatly respected as an artist then I would understand.

Serious Questions for James McAvoy

So, E, I went and saw Wanted yesterday. And, no, it was not just because James McAvoy is the star. ...Okay, maybe that was like 75% of the reason...but I was ALSO doing important research for my Project To Turn Myself Into Angelina Jolie. I DO realize that this blog might not be able to handle any more Awesome than it already has, but I'm willing to take that chance. Plus, this research is vital to my future, people--perhaps even more so than finding a new job and applying to grad school, both of which would be made easy as pie as soon as my morph into Angelina is complete. I mean, schools and employers probably wouldn't even require an application from Angelina Jolie. Everyone knows that.

Dear readers, if you are lucky enough to know your Salonni
รจres in person, then you know that we like to be prepared. Semper Paratus and all that. Well, actually, if we're talking specifically about us, then it would be Semper Paratae. And there you go folks, THAT'S what a B.A. in Latin gets you--anal retentiveness over the grammar of a dead language that no one gives a flying crap about. Don't be jealous... As I was saying, E and I like to be prepared for absolutely everything such as when major print media companies might ask us to interview huge celebrities, a situation which could arise AT ANY MOMENT. So it's a good thing E and I have already compiled a list of Very Serious Questions for the brilliant actor James McAvoy:

1. How depressed are you that we've never actually met?

2.
Have you been waiting all your life for us?

3.
Is your marriage semi-over? If the answer is yes, how does this help us to better imagine you as our Scottish lover AND how does your personal tragedy and our personal gain serve as your artistic motivation?

4. What shade of blue would you say your eyes are, really?

5.
How many different ways do you think we are better for you than any woman, ever?

6.
If you could have us anywhere, where would it be? Don't be shy. We certainly won't be.

7.
If we turned off all the lights, plunging us into complete and total darkness, and we were to touch you inappropriately, but nobody saw, would it really count? If the answer is no, could that be a reason for another go at it?

8.
If we threw ourselves at your feet, would you freak out? ...Because we might.

9.
Would you be at all averse to reenacting all your sexy scenes from any movie you've ever been in, with us, even if you don't find them particularly sexy yourself (unless you found the wee horns of your Tumnus costume arousing, and then we'll have to be allowed a follow-up question)? Also, to be honest, we didn't really mind the horns...

10.
Do you need a pair of personal assistants? Because we're available. Not to mention how amazing we would be at being personal assistants since we are so WITH IT all the time. Seriously, we would be totally on top of you things. For real, James McAvoy. Think about it and get back to us, you know, whenever...

So, E, I hope those questions aren't too serious for when they call us to do the interview. I mean, the intellectual heft evident in this list could be kind of int
imidating for some people; hopefully, it won't put them off. So, also, I have this feeling that Mrs. James McAvoy, amazing actress Anne-Marie Duff, (HELLO, The Magdalene Sisters. If you have not seen this movie, go rent it, like, now. Tonight. I mean it.) would think we are SO WITTY AND HILARIOUS. She would LOVE us. I just know it.
